East Norfolk Sixth Form College’s sporting success continued this week with an excellent performance from the mixed volleyball team which saw them record an excellent 3-0 win at home to Milton Keynes College. Volleyball Coach, John Ashmore has developed several strong East Norfolk teams over the last few years and is pleased to see his team go into the National qualifiers full of confidence.
The East Norfolk men's rugby team can take plenty from a hard fought game against College of West Anglia in which they showed they are more than capable of playing some excellent rugby. The East Norfolk men's rugby team raced into an early 10-0 lead against College of West Anglia but they were eventually pegged back. With the weather getting worse COWA were edged out 25-15 with Daniel Meeks and Jed Tearle (2) scoring for the East Norfolk team.
East Norfolk women’s football team where in action against City College in the first round of the cup. Whilst playing some excellent football they conceded the first goal shortly followed by another against a well organised defensive City College. Just before half time Sam Hunn finished nicely from a cross and a sensational 40 yard strike from Jodie Brady levelled the game. East Norfolk continued to work hard but conceded another goal. However, with one last kick of the game Chloe Hoffman unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner to take it to penalties. Unfortunately the team lost on penalties 4 – 3.
In football the men's first team continued their 100% start to the season with a 5-1 win at home to City College Norwich in the East of England Cup, a competition won by the team last year. Two goals each from George Barnden and Connor Mullally-Knight and one from Alex Meeken helping the lads through to the quarter-final stage in a competition that saw the team qualify as Eastern Region Champions and make it all the way to the National semi-finals last year.
