Welcome from the Principal

Our unique learning environment and reputation for being creative, innovative and opening up pathways to new and exciting opportunities sets us apart.

2020 was another outstanding year at the College with so many achievements, fantastic results and students having access to the widest range of subjects and enrichment opportunities. There are so many highlights to share including a 99% pass rate at A Level and 100% pass rate in 40+ subjects. Other notable achievements include:

• 1st in Norfolk for Applied qualifications

• Top 1% in the country for A level Further Maths

• Top 3% in the country for progress in Core Maths

• 3rd Best in Norfolk for progress in Chemistry and Biology

• Best in East of England for progress in Computer Science and Environmental Science

EN is the top College locally for progression. 56% of students that progress to Russell Group universities achieve a First-Class degree, over 20% higher than the national average for State and Independent sectors. 11 students received offers at Oxford and Cambridge for 2020, a record-breaking number for EN and nine students chose to take up those offers. But we are not just about students progressing to university, more than 25% progress directly to employment and more than 10% go on to apprenticeships. EN will also be the first provider East of Norwich to offer the new T Level qualifications from September 2021 including Digital Design and Development, Digital Business Services, Health, Healthcare Science and Science.

Students with aspirations to be professional footballers or pursue a career in sport have a unique opportunity too. EN is the only college locally with the prestigious Norwich City Community Sports Foundation Elite Football and Elite Xtra programmes for men and women. A  £1.6m state of the art 3G pitch, 800 capacity stadium and clubhouse is also on its way. The College is also one of only 25 FA Super Hubs, placing us at the forefront of sporting innovation and excellence. We are also home to a Combined Cadet Force (CCF), the only one in the local area and an approved centre for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Students choose EN because of the freedom and independence that a Sixth Form College experience offers. Located in the very heart of the Gorleston, students are just a short walk away from the high street with its mix of shops, cinema, library and gorgeous beach. Likened to a mini-university campus, the College continues to grow, with state-of-the-art buildings and outstanding facilities to support students on their route to success.

All of our students are encouraged from the moment they start at EN to see themselves as achieving at the highest level. We stretch and challenge them to achieve the very best so that when they leave, they have excellent results and have developed a range of skills to help them to be more rounded individuals.

Our staff are 16-19 specialists who work closely with students and their parents and carers for one shared vision – to achieve the highest standards possible. Don’t just take my word for it though. Come and visit us on one of our Open Days or Information Evenings. We will be delighted to highlight everything that EN has to offer and hopefully inspire you to choose the College for an outstanding future.
