A fantastic opportunity for students to join a unique partnership with the Armed Forces is now on offer at the College.

EN has established a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) bringing together students through a range of exciting opportunities and strengthening links with the local community. This is one of only five CCFs operating in Norfolk and the first in the East of the county.

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is a unique educational partnership that operates across the UK. Through a range of military themed activities, cadets have the opportunity to take responsibility, to develop skills such as leadership, self-reliance, resourcefulness, endurance and perseverance. The programme links in with elements of the British Army, the Royal Navy, Royal Marines or the Royal Air Force. The EN CCF will have an Army focus initially, looking to expand into the other services as the contingent becomes established.

Opportunities for cadets include the weekly parades, whole day and weekend training, annual military camps and courses run by the armed forces specifically for cadets including adventurous training expeditions. Other training opportunities include mountain walking, canoeing, gliding, skiing and offshore sailing.

EN Deputy Principal and Contingent Commander, Dr Simon Fox, said, “The College is constantly developing innovative ways to improve student outcomes and engagement, as well as helping young people to explore new and exciting opportunities. Improving social mobility also sits at the heart of the work we do with our students, and this project aims to address this aspect as a key element. Having a CCF at the college matches these core aims, allowing us to expand provision outside the curriculum while also impacting on our students’ life chances in a meaningful way.”

The creation of the CCF will form a lasting legacy and will provide the hub for community engagement as the project progresses in future years.
