Meet Greta, Ben, Luis and Rowenna

Why did you choose EN over your other potential college choices?

East Norfolk offered the best range of sports courses and this appealed to me as it was what I wanted to study at college. It also has a good reputation and lots of people from my area come to this college.

What has been the most interesting thing you have learnt/the best bit of your Sport course?

The most interesting thing I have learnt about at college was when my class went on a trip to Molton College. Here we got to experience a cryotherapy chamber along with aquatic therapy and the benefits these therapies can have on an athlete’s performance.

Having nearly completed your college studies, what advice would you now like to give yourself if you would be starting College this September?

To make sure you stay up to date with all your work and meet all the deadlines. This will prevent you getting behind.

What are your plans after EN? University? What and where will be studying? Work? What role and where?

I have been offered a place on the World Class Start British Rowing Pathways so will be going in to full time training for a year. After this is I am planning to continue rowing. In addition to this I have applied for a place to study Paramedic Science at the University of East Anglia. Depending on my success with rowing I will either continue with this or join the Royal Air Force as a Medic.

What is your favourite aspect of the course?

The best aspect of the course was meeting people with similar interest and therefore helping to form great friendships. Along with this I have been able to learn about the multiple aspects that are involved within sport. It has shown me that sport is not just one topic but multiple topics and how these areas can improve sporting performance.

What has been the most interesting thing you have learnt/the best bit of your Sport course?

I have mostly enjoyed learning about sports psychology because I think people forget about the importance of mental preparation for elite athletes and tend to focus on the anatomy and physiology more. I would recommend starting revision as soon as possible and keeping on top of all the work so that you give yourself a better chance of getting the highest grade. But don't let yourself get too stressed because you still need to enjoy the short time you spend at college.
