Study at Level 4 gives students the opportunity to begin pursuing specific career areas within the games sector which may have only been explored holistically before. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work with external clients and organisations on real live briefs in order to gain valuable experience that can be used on CVs and applications to games companies and HE institutions. Students with Level 4 qualifications have increased chances of getting places on university courses and apprenticeships and obtaining jobs within an organisation as they have shown continual commitment and dedication to education and study.

This course offers further opportunities to develop essential technical skills and knowledge of working practices within the exciting and ever-changing games industry landscape.


All units are internally assessed and then externally assessed and verified by the awarding body.

Entry Requirements

For level 3 students only, who will not be over the age of 18 on the 1st September. Students must have achieved at least Merit / C grades in at least two relevant full Level 3* subjects in order to be considered for this course and must have demonstrated excellent commitment to learning and high attendance (90+%) during L3 study. *Full Level 3 means two years or a double block vocational course.


During the qualification, students will study the following units:

• The Games Industry Landscape

• Game Design, Production and Business Practice

• Games Industry Work Placement

• Personal and Professional Development in the Games


You will complete the course with a professional portfolio of work which can be used to apply for HE opportunities, such as university, in Games Design and Development or which can be used to send to employers in the sector. During the course, students will explore career opportunities and develop contacts within the industry.
