Psychology is the science of the human mind and human behaviour. It involves looking at why we think and behave in the way that we do. In this course you will learn what psychology is about and the different approaches psychologists use to explain the human mind and behaviour.

It includes topics such as memory, criminal behaviour, phobias and obedience. In addition, the course will involve understanding how to design and conduct a piece of psychological research.

To join the course you do not need to have studied Psychology before.

Assessment

Candidates must write an essay or report (1000 – 1200 words) on a chosen theory, model or principle in mainstream Psychology (50%).  In addition, they will complete a Controlled Assessment under supervised conditions (50%).

Entry Requirements

Grade 3 in GCSE English Language and a Grade D in GCSE Science is essential.

Outcome/Progression

Completing the course will provide you with a good scientific insight into human behaviour and scientific research. You will also develop your evaluation skills whilst gaining an extra Level 2 qualification.
