This course has been designed to encourage learners to aspire to a career in the creative industries. Young people who recreationally engage with moving image texts such as films, television programmes and digital videos are able to develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to see how their interest can be transposed into a viable career goal. Learners will explore who makes videos and who they are made for and will also develop and hone key practical skills in digital video production using an industry standard equipment and professional applications. In additional to creating a moving images texts, learners will also produce print-based marketing materials using the Adobe Suite.

Assessment

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Creative Digital Media Production comprises of four units, three of which are internally assessed with the final unit being externally set and marked by Pearson.

Entry Requirements

A grade 3 in GCSE English Language is essential. Applicants should have achieved at least a grade 3 in four or more subjects at Level 2. Please note that you cannot study this subject alongside Games Production or Web Production.

Content

During the course, learners will cover the following units:

  • Digital Media Sectors and Audiences
  • Planning and Pitching a Digital Media Product
  • Digital Publishing Production
  • Digital Moving Image Production.

Outcome/Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, learners are able to progress to Level 3 study. Relevant courses would include Digital Video Production, Film Studies, Media Studies, Games Production, Information Technology, Graphic Communication, amongst others. Learners will need to have achieved at least 5 Level 2 qualifications at C / 4 / Pass or above to study a full Level 3 programme.
