Sport Scientists inspired by visit to FA HQ

Students from East Norfolk Sixth Form College travelled to St Georges Park, headquarters for the FA, to work with elite Sport Scientists for two days.

The students, who study either BTEC Sport and Exercise Science or A Level PE were put through their paces and tested like an elite athlete. They were very fortunate to be given the opportunity to use some of the most cutting edge sport science equipment available, something they all enjoyed.

Course tutor Chris Duffy said "Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, even if it was harder than they thought it might be. To be given the opportunity to work with elite level Sport Scientists, use the same facilities as the England first teams and experience training in an altitude chamber is something I'm sure they won't forget. We have already started planning next year's visit with places likely to be in high demand due to the expansion of our Sport Science course".

A Level PE student Charlotte Clarke said “Being able to take part in multiple fitness tests gave me an amazing, in-depth insight into the development of sporting technology and elite training itself. Despite the fact it took some getting used to, my favourite aspect of the trip had to be the hydrotherapy”

Joe Dann, a Sports Science student agreed saying “I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the people we worked with were really helpful and I found he trip very educational”.
