The fantastic relationship between East Norfolk Sixth Form College and Director Danny Boyle has reaped further reward for students at the College.

In June, EN moved its Taster Day to allow local students to take part in the Gorleston beach filming without disruption to either event. The Taster Day was a huge success with a bumper number of students attending and over 6,000 people descended on the beach for the filming.

On filming day, the college also provided 150 staff to appear as journalists. As a thank you for the colleges support and flexibility, the film company pledged a generous donation to fund music equipment. As the only college locally to still offer A-level Music, the contribution will make a massive difference to the students.

Dr Catherine Richards met up with Danny and Writer Richard Curtis at the Latitude Festival on Friday to receive the donation.

Dr Richards said “I am thrilled to accept the donation on behalf of the college. We have been so lucky to have such a fantastic relationship with Danny and his team. At the time, I didn’t think anything would top Danny’s visit to meet the students in May. But since then, our staff and students have had the opportunity to appear as extras in the film and now this donation. It’s been an amazing few months for us all and we are extremely grateful to Danny and the film company for their generosity.”
