A weekend of sporting excellence was capped by some superb performances by students at East Norfolk Sixth Form College.

The EN team brought home a clutch of medals from the National Championships after competing against athletes from colleges across England, Wales and Scotland.

The students had already fought off stiff competition from colleges across the Eastern region in order to qualify for the finals held in Tyne & Wear between the 15th – 17th April 2016. Their hard work and commitment certainly paid off as the team

Medal winners included Jacob and Joseph Goss who took Gold in the Men’s doubles Table Tennis. Tom Boardman and Lucy Jarvis, Gold medallists in the Badminton mixed doubles. Sarah Bowen and Lily Charlesworth won bronze medals in the swimming team and fellow students Sydney Newnham finished just outside a medal spot in the swimming and the women’s volleyball team finished 11th.

Jamie Lincoln, PE Teacher, said: “This year was the most successful national championships in the previous six years with four gold medals and two bronze medals. For some this was their first opportunity to compete at national level and I would like to congratulate all the students who represented both East Norfolk and the Eastern region this weekend”

EN Principal, Dr Catherine Richards, said “I am really proud of all those students who took part in the National Championships at the weekend. To come home with six medals is a fantastic achievement and it was a real team effort. The students were brilliantly supported by our staff. Our legacy of sporting success at EN will certainly continue whilst we continue to attract such talented students.”
