Photography students at EN took a day trip to London to see the sights!

The first stop of the day called for a visit to the Photographers’ Gallery for an exhibition called ‘Shot in Soho’. Students were able to see some of Soho’s diverse culture, community and creativity through the images and take inspiration from them to apply to their own work. Next, it was time to take inspiration from the exhibition and shoot around the famous Carnaby street with fellow classmates. The final stop of the day was to see the exhibitions and immerse themselves into two million years of human history, art and culture at the British Museum. They were able to capture images of the stunning architecture within the building which can be used as part of their studies.

Erin Patel, Teacher of Photography accompanied the students on the visit and said "As part of Photographic education at East Norfolk Sixth Form College, we understand the value of taking learners out of the classroom and exposing them to quality art exhibitions and venues. It helps our students understand the wealth of opportunities available in the creative industries as well as providing an inspirational, exciting and varied educational experience."

All the students that attended benefited from the trip which adds to their learning.

‘I really enjoyed this trip. I found it informative as it showed me what could happen to my photography if I go into the business. I think it’s so important to have trips like this, to show what could happen to people and their work if they go into the creative sector.’ - Caitlin, NCFE Photography

‘I loved going to the Photographer’s Gallery, where we were shown the work of inspirational artists. I also enjoyed going to the British Museum and exploring history of the world and documenting this by taking photographs. I have never been to London before and I’m grateful for the opportunity’ - Danny, NCFE Photography

This was a brilliant opportunity for students to broaden their ideas and perspectives within Photography which can be taken back to the classroom.
