EN Sports teacher named Active Norfolk’s ‘This Girl Can’ Woman of the Month

Samantha Clarke, Sports Development and Physical Activity Instructor at East Norfolk Sixth Form College has scooped the prestigious Active Norfolk award for February.

Sam works tirelessly to arrange and fulfil fixtures in a range of sports, increase volunteering opportunities for our students and offer a range of health and wellbeing activities from futsal to yoga. She has taken students to Wembley Stadium this year to attend Football Activator training giving students an incredible experience, enabling them to improve their confidence and professional skills before taking on the role of college football activators.

Sam works with this team of students along with the College’s ‘This Girl Can’ Ambassadors to improve the sporting provision for their peers and this has led to an increase in participation rates in both intra and inter-mural activities.

This year the college has been awarded football super-hub status becoming 1 of only 22 in the country. This is an incredible achievement and largely down to the work Sam has undertaken around football provision resulting in the college gaining national recognition.

Sam also identified the opportunity to become a women's football apprentice provider through the Association of Colleges (AoC) and the FA. Following a great deal of work during the application phase, the college was again selected, enabling us to offer this unique opportunity and target an increase in female participation in football. This will not only benefit the appointed person and our learners, but also the local community.
