Students at East Norfolk Sixth Form College are celebrating yet another brilliant set of A level results with an overall pass rate of 99% and 75% of students receiving A*-C grades.

Students have continued to achieve these excellent results at a time when A levels have become more challenging.

25 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate which is a further increase on last year. In all Maths courses over 75% of students achieved A* to B grades with 83% claiming top grades in Further Maths. All other STEM based subjects performed very highly, maintaining the college’s strong record in this area with students achieving exceptional A* to B grades in Biology (71%), Chemistry (66%) and Computing (63%).

Other notable successes include A level Geography which achieved a 100% pass rate with over half of students reaching the top grades, and all Art subjects which also saw more than 50% of students achieve A* to B grades. The Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art also secured a 100% pass rate for the second year in a row

East Norfolk Sixth Form College Principal, Dr Catherine Richards, said: “I am absolutely delighted by this year’s results. Our students have achieved fantastic grades, which is recognition for their hard work and determination to succeed and the dedication of our highly skilled staff to support our students and their aspirations.

As the top college locally for progression, more than half of our students go on to the top universities, including Oxbridge, to study subjects ranging from Medicine, Maths, Natural Sciences, English Literature, History and Politics and Chemistry. Many others are leaving the college to gain employment and apprenticeships having achieved impressive grades.

All of our students are encouraged from the moment they start at EN to see themselves as achieving at the highest level, including going onto the most competitive universities. We stretch and challenge them to achieve the very best results so that when they leave the college, they have excellent results and developed a range of skills to make them more rounded individuals.”

Continuing this focus on the whole individual the College is introducing its inspiring ENhance programme for all new students this year. Students can select from more than 25 different options, covering subjects as diverse as the Arts, languages, well-being and preparation for employment. They can learn Mandarin, develop their passion for history or the environment, participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and from next year join the brand new Combined Cadet Force, the only one of its kind to be found in a Norfolk College.

At the same time traditional extra-curricular provision in the College continues to flourish, with a thriving music scene, complemented by excellent Music A Level results, including a talented choir and wonderful Funk Band. Whatever your passion there is an avenue to explore it at East Norfolk College.

Dr Richards added: “This year’s results come at a really exciting time for the College. We have recently become an academy and we are now the only independent specialist Sixth Form College provider locally. We are the Ofsted ‘Good’ college for the East Coast and we are already looking ahead to the next exciting phase in the College’s future.”
